ANSYS is a universal program suite for simulation of components and systems across the entire product lifecycle. Among other things, the suite includes three physics simulators – for structural engineering, fluid mechanics and electromagnetism – and their interaction.

ANSYS is available to RTU structural units free of charge and may be used for non-commercial research and study purposes at classrooms. For time-consuming ANSYS simulations, RTU HPC cluster may be used.

License term: perpetual.

Manufacturer’s support: until 24.03.2024.

User groups: employees, doctoral students and classrooms.

Please contact hpc@rtu.lv for any questions regarding ANSYS licenses or installation.

For ANSYS application and use you can contact RTU researcher Pavel Akishin: pavels.akisins@rtu.lv

Licenses

For research.

ACADEMIC MULTIPHYSICS CAMPUS SOLUTION license is available. To register, fill in the application form. License may be acquired by RTU employees and doctoral students only.

After registration users will be given instructions regarding file downloading and installation.

For studies.

ACADEMIC MULTIPHYSICS CAMPUS SOLUTION license available.

Classroom Use license is available, which may be used for student training at classrooms and for preparing study materials. To register, fill in the application form.

After registration users will be given instructions regarding file downloading and installation. When a classroom is registered, the application form shall contain information on the classroom address and No., number of computers, gateway IP address or IP address range, and names of the computers.

For students.

For students who are not RTU employees or doctoral students, a free ANSYS version can be installed on the personal computer. Download it here.

For HPC users.

Registered cluster users may use the software on the cluster, the application form is available here.

Computer requirements

Hardware and OS.

Ansys is available on Windows and Linus. System requirements available here.

Network connection.

MATLAB license is stored on the central server of RTU data centre, thus computer must be connected to RTU network (Floating Network license) during software installation and use.

For using outside RTU, like at home, Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to RTU network is necessary (more information is available here).

If you have problem with Ansys Workbench:

Open file

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

and type this string:

85.254.226.90 license1

To do this, run program as admin. (To do this, find Notepad and click on the icon left button and press > Run as admin).

If this does not works, try:

Step 1

or: step 2
